The effect of the treatment has been studied mostly on children with cerebral palsy<sup>(1,2,3,5,6,7,8)<\/sup>\u00a0in majority caused by ischemic stroke during labor and delivery. One study has been conducted on adult patients after ischemic stroke<sup>(4)<\/sup>. Some studies have used autologous cord blood<sup>(3,7,8)<\/sup>, others have used allogeneic cord blood<sup>(1,2,4,5,6,9)<\/sup>. All have shown trend or significant improvement in motoric and cognitive functions of the patients.<\/p>\n<p>One study has shown clinical improvement after repetitive treatment 3-6 and 6-12 months after the first treatment<sup>(6)<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<div>In Most of the studies patients have undergone the treatment several years after the ischemic stroke event<sup>(1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9)<\/sup>.
